Comment on Confessions of an ex-‘Jesus Christian’ (7) by Beth Davis.
Having been a member at various churches belonging to different denominations, I’ve come to believe that every denomination that confesses Jesus is Lord has some truth not necessarily known or recognized by another denomination. It’s like a puzzle and each church has a piece to it. For example, Catholics have the “grace”, Pentecostals tend to have “holiness”, Baptists seem to go after “righteousness”. I hope you get the idea. Everyone has something good and godly and desirable. It’s disconcerting that too many of them miss this truth and won’t reconcile with their brothers. Worse, some refuse to associate with one another. This ought not to be the case, but as long as pride stands in the way of truth, it will continue to be the case. I see within the churches (which should be simply the Church) those who are awakening to this truth and reaching out to bridge the divide. Unfortunately, those people tend to be ostracized by others of their congregation. We just need to stand against the division and fight to bridge the divide. If enough of us take a stand, eventually the walls will fall.
